We need to remember that we'll be entrusting an important part of our lives to the dentist we choose: our facial appearance and smile. Choosing a wrong cosmetic dentist can mean a disaster, so it takes time to take a little time to make informed decisions, and do not accept the first dentist who looks like a good person, or who has the most convenient location.
Check professional affiliates:
Experienced cosmetic dentists will belong to at least one professional association, and preferably some, including the American Academy of Cosmetic Quality Dentistry (AACD). Such membership is useful in many ways: they help dentists stay in touch with their colleagues, participate in the latest technology and techniques, and maintain good ethical and professional standards. Many cosmetic dentists also belong to one or more local organizations, or sponsor local events. Even trying to call your country's license board to see if anyone filed a complaint with the dentist you considered.
You won't want to choose a dentist who'll be experimenting or practicing on your teeth. Look at how long the dentist has practiced. Ask how many times he has done the procedure you are interested in. Cosmetic dentistry is a mixture of art and science. It requires something from artistic eyes, from assessing the right porcelain color for your veneer in the best way to revive your gums.
